Intention: Meditation
Intention has several meanings such as a prayer but it’s also defined as a process for the healing of incised wounds. Most of us carry wounds made long before a diagnosis, life shift or emotional struggle. It simply took the pain to press it to the surface again. What would your life be like without old emotional wounds? The beauty of a new year is fresh beginnings. We leave yesterday behind and hold hope for the promise in tomorrow. But what about being mindful of the moment?
May these words of my mouth and this meditation of my heart be pleasing in your sight, Lord, my Rock and my Redeemer. Psalm 19:14
Your body is a temple and within it, a sacred space to grow in God’s truth. Prayer powerfully conditions your heart to hear God’s voice. If your mind is having its own conversation, it’s impossible to listen. God speaks in the silence of our minds and the openness of our hearts. I started practicing meditation because I had allowed my mind to drive my body to exhaustion. Over time, meditation became to me, a deep, intimate conversation to accept without bias, my scars, frailties and truest self.
My present peace is a result of these deliberate times of prayer and meditation. When we soak in His power, we saturate our souls with His peace. For these 21 days, journal following the “I commit to” prompts and write down a daily intention. It can be a word, a phrase or thought to frame your day. Notice where your thoughts attach to. Healing happens mind, body, spirit and soul. As you work your way back to self and confront the demons, you will dis(H)arm them. You liberate a prisoner locked inside when you begin with this healing truth – God loves you.
And so we know and rely on the love God has for us. God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in them. 1 John 4:16
